Making energy consumption transparent
The recording of energy consumption of private households is more and more in the focus of politics and industry. The objective is to control energy consumption, to stimulate energy savings and to promote innovative technology in this sector.
In accordance with the directive “energy end-use efficiency and energy services” (2006/32/EC, EDL directive) of the European unio, the customer should be able to transparently observe his energy consumption in the future under the term “Smart Metering” in order to use energy efficiently. In Germany, the national implementation of the EC directives is effected by the Energy Management Act (EnWG) and the Metering Access Ordinance (MessZV).
Also in this new area the VDE Testing and Certification Institute is a competent partner of consumers, manufacturers and energy suppliers. An important step is the implementation of the “officially recognized testing agency for electricity measuring equipment EF 9” at the VDE Institute officially registered by the calibration board of the state Hessen.
